The paintings are in the style I mentioned way back in May of last year. That is, for the most part, they look like stencils, except that I hand-painted them. The pieces are influenced by Blek Le Rat, Robert Longo, and to a much lesser degree, Ed Paschke and Christian Boltanski. Stylistically, they're very similar to a style I exclusively used for about eight years after I graduated from college. So, in a way, they are a "return to form" for me. Of course, considering how restless I am in terms of styles, the return may be short-lived.
In the last few days I've been closely studying Roy Lichtenstein's comic book panel paintings. And, I've started a painting of my version of Captain America. However, by the time I finish the painting (if I finish the painting), he won't look much like Captain America. The colors will be much different and I might do some kind of effect like Greg Gossel (we'll see). I suspect that this comic book phase will pass rather quickly since I'm really not a huge fan of comic books. Anyway, maybe I'll get one or two paintings out of it. I do think Captain America is a great symbol, though. I wish I had thought of using him while Bush was in office. The statements would have been much more appropriate.
One more thing. At work, a few months ago, we relocated to a new area within our building. For years, people had been telling me that I should hang my work around the office. So, when we moved, I hung a lot of the "cartoony cubism" pieces and most of the Folkbots". Now my paintings fill our entire department. There's probably forty pieces hung up (at least). It's pretty cool to go work and see my work all around, especially the "Folkbots", which I have covering one huge wall by my desk. They work really well as a grouping. People joke that our area is the "Watford Wing". I like that.

Your right, I should upload larger versions. I may try to do that sometime soon.
I'd love to make prints of them. But, since I'm using copyrighted characters, I doubt DA will make prints for me.

13 is my lucky number.
I've studied a lot of modern and contemporary art history too. So much, in fact, that I can't start a piece without thinking, "That looks too much like...".
BTW, I'm working on a different style right now that I'm actually painting on canvas. They look like stencils but they're hand painted, similar to Blek Le Rat. Once I photograph some of them, I'll post them up.
Thank you, Juxtapoz, for introducing me.
